Lecture Title: Identification of Indian Stone Tools
Speaker: Dr. Steve Tomka, Former Director of Center for Archeological Research at UTSA and now CRM Director with Raba Kristner Engineering Consultants in San Antonio
Time: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm with a lunch break from 12:00 to 1:00

Fee for Workshop: $10 per person
Abstract: Dr. Tomka will present a hands-on workshop on the identification of lithic (stone) artifacts and their use. The workshop will focus on the characteristics of stone artifacts that distinguish them from one another, and from natural chert or limestone pieces that are often mistaken as man-made tools.
The stone tools discussed will range from projectile points and biface knives, to less formal chipped stone tools, such as flakes and uniface scrapers. Artifacts, drawings, and slides will be used to illustrate and compare characteristics of stone tools. A handbook will be provided to the 
participants, illustrating the key characteristics of stone tools discussed during the workshop.
